White is not static or fixed, but instead highly dynamic and responsive to its environment.
Varying tones of white — manifested through paper, plaster, modeling paste, glitter, LED lights, and natural light — shift in accordance to their surroundings, the time of day, and the viewer’s own vantage point. This refractive quality illuminates a wide array of tones on drywall, reflective surfaces on floors, and in the transient hues of natural light.
As the viewer’s sensitivity to subtle variations heightens, the surroundings become an extension of the work itself. The diffusion of warm and cool light, both natural and artificial, blurs the sense of time and place, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the present moment.
